It becomes more clear when the antagonists are revealed. Then you can press L and look over individual squares on the map to see their exact names or descriptions and compare them with what your quest log saysĪnd a dram is just a unit of measuring liquids, it doesn't really matter, you can just mentally replace it with a liter or whatever you wantĪlso water is important because the setting is a salt-ridden postapocalypse and in that case drinking water is about as desired a commodity as you can getĪs far as the setting itself goes, probably the underlying theme is "diversity", of life, culture, intelligence, whatever.
CAVES OF QUD REDDIT HOW TO
So can someone eli5 to me how to play this? Like what is even the end goal of the game? Thanks for your helpĪt the map screen you can hold alt and it'll highlight points of interest or areas you've been directed to and those will have a white marker on their designated square. Like why is there such a fascination around water? What do these complicated names mean? What the heck is a dram? There is just so much reading and studying that I need to just to progress a little bit (which admittedly appeals to my nerd side) but I wanna get to the fun parts like finding rare artifacts, building an army, becoming insanely rich, etc. And the world isn't that easy to understand either. If I try randomly exploring I end up being murdered by something.

Where the heck is that? I open the map and I can't tell where that is. I talk to some NPC that tells me to go to red rock. And then I'm just dumped in the world, with no clue what to do. It took me ages just to get past the character creation screen. So when I discovered this game I was ecstatic to try it out! But Jesus Christ this game is so hard to get into. I am a big fan of story, adventure and fighting with not too much care for graphics as long as they're consistent.
